Student and youth groups are hoping incoming president Rodrigo Duterte will make good on his campaign promise to stop the K-12 Program.
The League of Filipino Students said, it is another burden for parents and students due to the additional expenses that they have to pay.
The group said, around a million students are now worrying if they can still continue their studies under the program especially students that have to transfer to private schools.
“Their projects and workbooks are additional burden to our students amounting from 100k-200k that may result to more dropout,” Aries Gupit of League of Filipino Students said.
Kabataan partylist said, they are ready to talk with the president to explain their side.
Department of Education (DepEd) said, non-implementation of the program will incur more disadvantages for the country because the Philippines is the only nation left in Southeast Asia that is not k-12 compliant.
The government and private schools have also spent a lot already preparing for the program.
DepEd reiterated their voucher program for students that are transferring to private schools.
